Subverting the Floral workshop offers people a creative space to reimagine a floral corsage as a symbol of self-expression and empowerment. While learning about the historical practice of floriography—where women communicated emotions through flowers—the workshop opens up dialogue about gender stereotypes and power dynamics. Participants will select from curated collections of flowers and other materials, each symbolising unique meanings, and will use this process to examine media-driven beliefs around femininity and self-worth. They will transform a belief that doesn’t resonate with their identity into a floral piece that reflects their personal truth.

The workshop is open to everyone and limited to 12 participants (queer-friendly). Apply at press.bio@mao.si.
